Hypnosis for positive change is not about tricking the client into something.
Whereas a stage hypnotist may have the volunteer to experience some pretty whacky things whilst on stage for the entertainment of the crowd, the more outlandish the suggestions, the more likely the brain will seem them for what they are and force them out…perhaps even before the act is complete.
Hypnotherapy is about achieving change that the person wants. For, if the desire and belief is not there then the chances for success are very slim. This goes across the board.
As an example I will bring up the smoker. If the partner, friend of family member of the smoker contacts me to get the suggested client to stop smoking I get a kind of silent alarm bell ringing in the back of my mind. At this point I will want to speak to the smoker and ask them on a scale of 1 to 10 how much they want to stop smoking. I would normally get a a response around the 4 – 7 mark. This will then lead me to politely decline the session and tell them to save their money and contact me when there are at a 9 or preferable a 10.
The reason for this is that although the person may have a strong desire to please their friend or love one that is not a desire to stop smoking in itself.
When the time is right and when you are ready for change then I will do my best to help you.
All phobias are welcome here!
